Privacy Policy

Last updated: December 2025

1. Introduction

Jornadia ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.

Jornadia is designed as a collaborative knowledge platform. Your chat conversations are completely private and are never shared automatically. Knowledge is only shared when you explicitly choose to create a draft and publish it to a topic.

When you publish a contribution, your username will be displayed alongside it so others know who shared the insight. You must set a username in your profile before you can publish contributions.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we may collect:

  • Email address
  • Username or display name
  • Authentication identifiers (handled by our authentication provider, such as Supabase or OAuth providers like Google)

Your username will be visible to others when you publish contributions to topics. Only your username is displayed—never your email address or other personal contact details.

2.2 Usage Information

When you use the Service, we collect:

  • Messages and conversations you create in the chat (stored privately in your account)
  • Knowledge drafts you create (stored privately until you choose to publish)
  • Published contributions you choose to share (displayed publicly with your username)
  • Topics you view, follow, or interact with
  • Logs and metadata such as timestamps, basic device information, and feature usage (for analytics and debugging)
  • Subscription and entitlement information (e.g. free tier vs paid)

2.3 Payment Information

Payment processing is handled by Stripe, a third-party payment processor. We do not store your full payment card details. We only receive and store:

  • Stripe customer ID
  • Subscription status and plan information
  • Relevant billing and transaction metadata from Stripe

2.4 AI and Content Processing

When you use the chat, your messages are processed by our systems and by third-party AI providers to:

  • Generate responses to your questions
  • Suggest knowledge drafts when you click "Save as draft" (you review and edit before publishing)

When you choose to publish a contribution, we check the content for:

  • Harmful content (using automated moderation tools)
  • Private information (email addresses, phone numbers, etc.)

If your draft contains such content, publishing will be blocked and you'll be notified. You can edit your draft and try again.

You should avoid entering highly sensitive information (such as passwords, financial account numbers, or medical data) into the chat, even though your conversations are private.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Generate AI-powered responses to your questions
  • Store your conversations privately in your account
  • Suggest knowledge drafts when you request them (you choose whether to publish)
  • Display your published contributions on public topic pages with your username
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions
  • Send you service-related communications
  • Respond to your inquiries and provide support
  • Monitor, detect, and prevent fraud, abuse, or misuse of the Service
  • Comply with legal and regulatory obligations

Published contributions you choose to share may be used to assist other users and appear on public topic pages.

4. Information Sharing and Disclosure

4.1 Third-Party Service Providers

We share information with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating the Service, such as:

  • Stripe: Payment processing and subscription management
  • Supabase or similar providers: Authentication, databases, and user management
  • AI model providers: Processing chat messages to generate responses and extract knowledge
  • Hosting and infrastructure providers: Application hosting, logging, and data storage

These providers are only given access to the information necessary to perform their services and are obligated to protect your information.

4.2 Knowledge Sharing

Jornadia is designed to create a shared knowledge base through voluntary contributions:

  • Your chat conversations are completely private and are never shared automatically
  • Knowledge is only shared when you explicitly create a draft and choose to publish it
  • When you publish a contribution, it is displayed on public topic pages with your username
  • We do not publish your raw chat messages, personal contact details, or other identifying information
  • You can browse topics and use chat without publishing anything—publishing is entirely optional

4.3 Contributor Attribution

When you publish a contribution, your username will be displayed alongside it on public topic pages:

  • Your username (as set in your profile) appears on all contributions you publish
  • You must set a username before you can publish contributions
  • Only your username is displayed—never your email address or other personal contact details
  • Published contributions cannot be made anonymous after publication

4.4 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (for example, a court or government agency).

5. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you

  • Object to or restrict certain types of processing, such as direct marketing
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format
  • Change your username (which will appear on future published contributions)

To exercise these rights, please contact us at [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling your request.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Service and fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by contacting us.

8. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not intended for users under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. In some cases, we may provide additional notice (such as by email or an in-app message), especially if we make material changes to how contributor attribution or knowledge sharing works.
